Walk the Talk.

Being a part of a more informed generation means that we have greater responsibilities. It is more important than ever to support eco friendly companies. If you'd like to take it a step further, then choosing cruelty free brands and food options will benefit you and our planet even more. Being eco friendly means assisting in the preservation of our natural resources. Some examples of this include using all natural and chemical free products and recycling and using products that uses recycled materials. Eating less animal products also contributes under the category of eco friendly choices. By choosing to eat vegetarian or vegan options you are choosing not to exhaust natural resources, such as water. “It takes more than 2,400 gallons of water to produce just 1 pound of meat. Only 25 gallons of water are required to grow 1 pound of wheat. You can save more water by not eating a pound of meat than you can by not showering for six months!” (PETA)

On a spiritual level, making these choices shows compassion for all living things which assists in an opening up of the heart. On a physical plane, it lowers inflammation which leads to lower chances of cancer and other chronic illnesses. On a grand scale, climate change will affect every area of our lives so lets do what we can to cultivate a thriving and healthy environment for future generations.

Below are some of my favorite vegan and eco friendly restaurants and products:

By Chloe has locations in Los Angeles, Boston, and NYC. The last time I had their amazing food on Bleeker street, there was a line from the cashier that went all the way outside. They are an all vegan restaurant with a sweet shop on the side and they offer gluten free options, as well as, delicious raw juices. Some of my favorite dishes include the “guac burger” (black bean / quinoa / sweet potato patty, corn salsa, onion, guacamole, tortilla strips, chipotle aioli, on a whole grain or gluten free bun), “mac n’ cheese” (sweet potato / cashew cheese sauce, shiitake bacon, and almond parmesan), the “avocado - pesto pasta” (avocado / cashew pesto, grape tomatoes, fresh basil, almond parmesan), and the “howl” juice (pineapple, apple, lemon, ginger, cayenne pepper, water). Everyone must check this place out! Even people that aren’t vegans are big fans of this delicious piece of heaven. http://eatbychloe.com

Milk is an all natural ingredient based vegan make up brand with a fun and forward thinking concept. Its for the girl on the move who is versatile and lively. It’s produced in NYC by Milk Studios (located in both L.A. and NYC). Milk Studios employs a group of artistic masterminds that brew up innovative branding ideas in fashion, music, photography, and film. Products are available for purchase at Sephora or on their website. My favorites include their “sunshine skin tint” roll on foundation that looks oh so natural and light (it’s as if you aren't even wearing make up!), the “Holographic stick” that you can swipe on your lips, eyes, cheek bones, and anywhere else for crazy yet subtle shine (“an iridescent, hyper-lavender sheen” that’s “loaded with meteorite powder and twilight pearls, this futuristic product isn’t just pearlescent, it's prismatic.” Hell yes to this galactic swipe on stick.), and the “Gnarly” lipstick (it looks nude until you glide it on your lips and the color suddenly changes to a “gnarly” purple pink. Their site is fun to browse through. There’s a video for every piece of make up and fun tutorials. https://milkmakeup.com

Angela Roi, an ethical luxury handbag brand, has based their community on values they hold dearly. This vegan company has set the standard high for future ethical designers to come. They are located in NYC and L.A. and can also be found at some Bloomingdales locations or purchased through their online store. I can't tell you which of their purses are my favorites but I have already started a collection with the Olivia E. wallet, Jules Bucket bag II, Morning Cross Body, and Elle cosmetic case set. These high end purses won’t disappoint. https://www.angelaroi.com

They're ethical, eco friendly, and damn are they talented. http://nicorashoes.com/collections
